How It All Started

A couple of years ago, I received Martha Stewart’s Cupcake recipe book for my birthday.  While it was a great gift (LOVE me some Martha Stewart), I couldn’t help but wonder when I would ever actually make any of the cupcakes in the book.  They all looked wonderfully delicious, but I’m not typically one to cook or bake just for the heck of it.  Then… It occurred to me.  I have a lot of friends, family and co-workers who I would enjoy giving birthday gifts to.  But, most of the time, I have no idea what to get them.  What better solution than to hand them the cupcake book, let them choose one, and make it for them for their birthday?  Not only would it be a great gift, but it would give me an opportunity to make some awesome cupcakes.

I have thoroughly enjoyed baking each recipe that’s been chosen, and some have been requested by others for various occasions.  They’ve all been delicious.  I find myself getting excited for people’s birthdays to come about so I can see what they’ll choose, go through the process of baking them, and see them enjoy their cupcakes (and enjoy them myself as well). I’ve even go so far as to purchase another cupcake recipe book… Southern Living’s Big Book of Cupcakes and can’t wait to try some of those!

Every time I make a new cupcake, I take a picture and post it on Facebook.  A friend of mine mentioned last night that I should start sharing the recipes as well.  So, I was thinking today that this would be a GREAT blog topic and a nice way for me to share the recipes and pictures of the cupcakes, along with some of my other favorite recipes, and maybe even an occasional review of something new I’ve tried recently (I’m all about trying new and different foods).

If anyone is ever interested in some cupcakes for any small parties (birthdays, showers, etc.), I’d be more than happy to help you out for less than you’d pay a professional bakery (so long as I’m available during the time of your party… with two jobs, school and family I tend to get pretty busy, but I LOVE cooking and baking and will make the time when I can).

I hope this blog inspires some of you to also try these recipes, share some of your own, and enjoy some time in the kitchen!  🙂
